5/12/12
Today was the day of the presentation and I felt very nervous and worried that we hadn't prepared enough, although compared to some other teams I knew we had prepared more than some!
I arrived at 9am, we had previously worked out which lab was empty and James and Ross were here already, so I saved seats for myself and Andrea so we were sitting in a square at the back of the lab.
First of all I checked that open wonderland was working, and everyone could log in and hear each other, which we could. Then we printed out our own notes and settled down to a first run through.
I kept a timer on my phone to keep an eye on how long we had, first time everyone was pretty nervous and a couple of team members spoke for way too long, in the end up our first run through was over 20 minutes.
We took at ten minute break then started again, after I had told the team members to be more concise, this time we took 16 minutes.
Again we took another break and did another run, this time we were almost exactly 15 minutes and it was time to start.
We waited, Jim did manage to connect but none of us could hear/see anything so we believe he was having problems with the server, we were then worried that we were expected to start at exactly 11.05 and had missed the start, but logically deduced that we would get some notice to start if we had done the presentation face to face, so should expect some on open wonderland.
Jim disconnected eventually, and I fired off a couple of emails to let him know we couldnt hear him, we got a message finally saying to restart in an hour, so we took another break. Also I took this time to edit the power point presentation to fix some spelling mistakes on a couple of slides that someone else had added.
Jim came back at 12 and we started our presentation, which by my timer ran to 14 and a half minutes, close enough! I actually really enjoyed giving the presentation and was glad there was only one question as it meant we had covered nearly all of what we should have,
The entire team was on a high when Jim said it had been a pleasure to listen to and gave us an A :D
